I cannot emphasize this enough, but I LOVE Pomeranians. I could not have dreamt up a more perfect dog. I’ve loved the breed for as long as I can remember and that affinity has followed me through adulthood.
I had the pleasure of capturing some of that PNW essence for the Le family this weekend —Washington natives and UW sweethearts with the sweetest camera lovin’ daughter.
FOOD + COOKING
Bateau is from Chef-owner Renee Erickson. We frequent her Ballard seafood inspired restaurant Walrus and the Carpenter, so we were excited to get our beef on at her steakhouse.

andy and i finally tried copine. we've passed it several times and have talked about going since we moved here, but haven't had a chance to make it in here... until tonight that is!
TRAVEL
I celebrated my 31st birthday in my favorite place on earth — new york city. birthdays are always a melancholy time for me. yet, the city always continues to surprise and delight me.
“I love everything that's old, - old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine.”
“You find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
LIFESTYLE + PERSONAL
I am a self taught cook. When I was in junior high my best friend Amanda changed my life by telling me that I needed to preheat the oven before putting the cookies in the oven. It seems like a small, silly thing that I should’ve have known, but I didn’t and that moment really changed the game for me.
Not going to lie, it’s been a hard year. It’s felt challenging from the start, but it’s becoming more apparent as the year draws to a close.
when jenny and i were young, we used to write each other letters, pen pal style. yes, long, long ago, the cheapest and best way (for a couple of kids) to communicate was by physical mail. stamps, envelopes, mailbox, the whole shebang.
Since my first post on Pancake, a couple of weeks have passed and she’s now officially home with her new family!
