“Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious as to have friends at a distance; they make the latitudes and longitudes.”

Emily and I met in 2012 through work and quickly became great friends. We met during a time in our lives where things were changing and we were evolving. Yet, through three cities, thousands of miles, multiple degrees, various jobs, and crazy life changes, we’ve always managed to pick up right where we left off.

This wasn’t Em’s first visit to the Pacific Northwest, but it’s the first time we’ve been here together. 2019 has been a turbulent year for both of us. It’s a much different time from where we were in 2012, but a crossroads in our life all the same. So we took the ferry rides, ate delicious food, drank lots of coffee and wine, and looked hopefully to better days ahead.

Thanks for visiting, Em. It was great to see you — I can’t wait to see all the things you accomplish in 2020 and beyond!

No. 6 | Six years ago today, Andy and I got married and it was the perfect day. One more trip around the sun, and it’s still one of my favorite days. But our relationship is more than just the perfectness of May 22, 2015. It’s an accumula
